Which animals live at Huberhof?
Huberhof is a grassland dairy farm, so most of the animals are our 35 cattle. There are also 2 horses, 3 pigs, 3 cats, 5 hens, 4 rabbits and our farm dog. In summer some of the animals move up to our Huberalm at about 1,850 m for about 120 days.
By arrangement, Doris and Stephan will show you round the farm and the animals. Helping with the work in the barn and in the meadows isn't part of a stay at Huberhof: you're here as our guest, on holiday. You're very welcome to watch and ask questions on the tour, though.
How are the apartments equipped for families?
All four apartments at Huberhof have a cot, a high chair and children's toys, so you don't need to pack half the nursery. Each apartment sleeps up to 6, counting the travel cot and the sofa bed.
Which apartment suits you? Arnika, about 55 m², has a bunk alcove as well as the bedroom, and Alpenrose, about 60 m², has a double room with a small terrace and a room with two single beds. Edelweiß, about 65 m², has two double bedrooms, a bathroom and a guest WC. If you'd like two bathrooms, choose Enzian, about 70 m², where each of the two double bedrooms has its own bathroom.
Bed linen, towels and final cleaning are included in the price. The kitchens have a dishwasher, a microwave and a coffee maker, you can borrow an oven, and the washing machine is in the ski room.
What can children do on the farm and nearby?
Around Huberhof there are plenty of meadows and lots of room to play. At the farm there is a playground, the shared terrace with a barbecue and the herb garden, which you are welcome to use. In bad weather everyone meets in the common room with its large table, sofa and TV.
In summer we recommend the Mühlbacher Talile for families. Along the educational trail ‘Auf den Spuren vergangener Zeiten’ (Following the traces of days gone by) there are wooden sculptures and information boards, at the reservoir there is a Kneipp pool with seating, and if you keep going you reach our Huberalm, about 1 hour 30 minutes from the farm with 400 metres of ascent. In summer you can stop there for simple alpine dishes and fresh milk. You'll find every walk in our guide Hiking from the farm.
In winter children can sledge down the Mühlbacher Talile from the Huberalm to the car park, and there are also floodlit sledge runs in Uttenheim (Villa Ottone) and in Weißenbach in the Ahrntal (Riobianco, Valle Aurina). There's more in our guide Winter farm stay near Kronplatz.

What about breakfast and dinner?
At Huberhof you can buy milk, speck, Kaminwurzen (smoked sausages) and eggs from the farm. On request we put together a breakfast box for you: the large one for €15 with bread, fresh cow's milk, butter, egg, jam, yoghurt with muesli, orange juice, cold meats, speck, cheese and fruit, and the small one for €12 without the cold meats, speck, cheese and fruit. With our bread delivery service you get bread and croissants fresh from the baker from Monday to Saturday, and on Sundays we bake them off ourselves.
And when nobody feels like cooking after a long day: Gasthof Huber, which also belongs to the Wolfsgruber family, is only about 50 metres from the farm and serves traditional food in a homely atmosphere.
Who is the family behind Huberhof?
Huberhof belongs to us, the Wolfsgruber family: Doris, Stephan, Franziska, Matthias and Lena. Doris and Stephan are your contacts for everything to do with your holiday. Huberhof is an Erbhof, an inherited farm, first documented in the 14th century and in the family for 13 generations. With solar panels and firewood from our own forest, the farm produces most of its own energy, and the furniture in the apartments was made from wood from our own forest too.
In reviews our guests especially praise the cleanliness, the friendliness and the fact that we, their hosts, are here on the farm. That is how we want a holiday with us to feel: personal, quiet and with time for a chat. Huberhof is a member of Red Rooster (Roter Hahn) with 3 flowers. You can read more about us on the pages Our farm and Farm history.
